During my second visit to XLB with my beloved granddaughter, we indulged in an array of delicious dishes. We may have ordered too much food, but luckily we were able to bring home leftovers in take-home boxes. This time, the highlight of our meal was the shrimp/pork/chive dumplings - they were absolutely divine! The thin wrap and perfectly seasoned filling made for an unforgettable flavor experience. The beans with pork bits also stood out as a standout dish. Despite finding the soup dumplings less enchanting than before, the overall meal was satisfying and delicious. XLB never fails to impress with their flavorful cuisine. A big thank you to the wonderful staff at XLB for feeding us so well once again! less

My dining experience at this restaurant was nothing short of amazing! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and excellent service. The food was delicious - we savored every bite of the dumplings, fried rice, and noodles we ordered. What truly stood out was how attentive the staff were towards our kids. They made sure that our little ones were comfortable and happy throughout the meal. I can't wait to come back and enjoy another satisfying meal at this wonderful restaurant. less

I have been to this restaurant multiple times for gatherings with loved ones. The XLB here is fantastic, with a delicate and flavorful soup inside. We always make sure to order the pork belly with sticky rice, which never disappoints. The wonton soup is delicious, and both the fried rice and noodles are worth trying. My friends particularly enjoy the chili oil wonton. The service is always friendly and quick. I recommend making a reservation if you're coming with a group, as it can get quite crowded during lunch and dinner rush hours. less

I stumbled upon this cozy little restaurant that instantly felt like home. Their XLB was a revelation - the best I've ever tasted. The owner is incredibly warm and welcoming, and the food is consistently amazing. From the Chilli Oil Wontons to the sauteed green beans, every dish was bursting with flavor. We also tried the Mapo Tofu, Chongqing chicken, Fried Rice with Chicken, Shanghai Chicken Noodles, and the Pork with glutinous rice in bamboo - each dish was a culinary adventure in itself. This place has now become our go-to spot to bring all our out-of-town friends, and it always impresses. If you're in SJ, this is a must-try spot for sure. less

What a delightful surprise! I recently visited this restaurant and was truly impressed by the incredible value they offer compared to other popular spots in the area. The service was quick and efficient, and the xiaolongbao were absolutely delicious. But what really stole the show for me was dining on their beautiful patio - it truly enhanced the overall dining experience. It's safe to say that this restaurant has become a new favorite of mine - a gem that I can't wait to visit again soon. less

We recently visited this restaurant and were impressed by the quick service and inviting atmosphere. While the indoor seating area was a bit crowded, it added to the bustling energy of the place. The food was absolutely delicious and left us wanting more, although the exact dishes we ordered are now a distant memory. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience that we would happily repeat. less

My partner and I decided to check out this restaurant to satisfy our cravings for some delicious food. Finding parking was a breeze, and the staff members greeted us with warm smiles. The service was efficient, and our dishes arrived at our table in record time - quicker than the speed of the mythical DC superhero Flash! We immediately ordered the Xiao Long Bao, and to our surprise, it appeared on our table in less than a minute. Personally, I found the sour taste of the Xiao Long Bao to be a bit overwhelming, reminiscent of my experience at Din Ding Dumpling House. However, my partner thoroughly enjoyed the popular smoked duck dish. The stir-fried green beans and pork were tasty, although a tad greasy for my liking. Unfortunately, my partner isn't a fan of pork, so we ended up leaving that dish mostly untouched. Our table happened to be situated by the side door leading to the patio, which meant that every time a guest or server came and went, a blast of cold wind hit us. The weather that day was rainy and chilly, so we found ourselves shivering due to the frequent drafts. Despite this, I believe that on a sunny day, the ambience would have been much more enjoyable. Overall, I would rate our experience a 3.5 out of 5, and I am willing to give this restaurant another try in the future. Perhaps we simply chose the wrong dishes this time around that didn't quite suit our palates. I'm eager to explore more of their menu and discover new favorites on our next visit! less

Absolutely blown away by the tofu dishes at this restaurant! I tried the noodle and shredded form, both of which were like nothing I've ever tasted before. The tofu was so perfectly marinated in a delicious sauce that it didn't even taste like tofu. While the shumai was a bit underwhelming, the rest of the dishes were all top-notch. From the flavorful beans to the perfectly crispy potstickers and the juicy Xiaolongbao, every bite was a delight. I highly recommend trying out the tofu dishes here – you won't be disappointed! less

A Culinary Experience at XLB Kitchen

When you step into XLB Kitchen, the first thing that strikes you is the inviting atmosphere, blending modern design with traditional Chinese aesthetics. This cozy restaurant is not just about the ambiance; it’s about the flavorful journey that begins the moment you open the menu. XLB Kitchen specializes in Xiao Long Bao, also known as soup dumplings. These delicacies are carefully crafted, with a thin, delicate skin encasing a flavorful broth and tender meat filling. The expertise required to make such a dish is significant, as the dumplings must be steamed to perfection, ensuring the soup inside remains intact until the first bite.

The restaurant’s attention to detail is evident not only in their Xiao Long Bao but also in their other offerings, such as Shanghai noodles and dim sum. The chefs at XLB Kitchen bring years of experience to the table, showcasing their culinary mastery through each dish. Their commitment to quality is what makes this place a favorite among locals and visitors alike.

The Authentic Flavors of XLB Kitchen

XLB Kitchen is more than just a place to eat; it’s an exploration of Chinese cuisine. The authenticity of the flavors is a result of the restaurant’s dedication to using traditional recipes and fresh ingredients. Each dish is a reflection of the rich culinary heritage of China, with a focus on flavor balance and texture.

One of the standout dishes, apart from the Xiao Long Bao, is the Braised Pork Belly. This dish is a perfect example of how XLB Kitchen combines tradition with technique. The pork is slow-cooked to achieve a tender texture, while the sauce is rich and savory, enhancing the natural flavors of the meat. Paired with steamed rice, it’s a dish that resonates with the comfort food cravings many have.

The Scallion Pancakes are another favorite. These crispy, golden-brown pancakes are light yet packed with flavor, thanks to the fresh scallions folded into the dough. It’s the perfect appetizer to start your meal at XLB Kitchen.

A Diverse Menu for Every Palate

At XLB Kitchen, the menu is designed to cater to a wide range of tastes and preferences. Whether you’re in the mood for something light or hearty, there’s something for everyone. The restaurant offers a variety of dim sum options, including shrimp dumplings and pork buns, which are made fresh daily. Each dim sum dish is a bite-sized burst of flavor, perfect for sharing with friends or family.

For those who prefer noodles, the Shanghai-style noodles are a must-try. These noodles are stir-fried with vegetables and meat, creating a satisfying and savory dish that’s both filling and delicious. The spicy wontons are another highlight, offering a combination of heat and umami that’s hard to resist.

If you’re looking for something more unique, try the Szechuan-style dishes. The Mapo Tofu is a popular choice, featuring soft tofu in a spicy, flavorful sauce that’s perfect for those who love bold flavors. The Kung Pao Chicken is another dish that packs a punch, with its combination of tender chicken, peanuts, and chili peppers.

The Art of Soup Dumplings

XLB Kitchen is best known for its Xiao Long Bao, and for good reason. These soup dumplings are a work of art, requiring both skill and precision to prepare. The process begins with a thin, delicate dough, which is carefully filled with seasoned pork and a rich broth. The dumplings are then steamed to perfection, ensuring that the soup inside remains intact.

Eating Xiao Long Bao is an experience in itself. The key is to be gentle, lifting the dumpling carefully with your chopsticks to avoid breaking the skin. A small bite at the top releases the hot, flavorful broth, which can be sipped before eating the rest of the dumpling. It’s a dish that requires patience and appreciation, as each bite offers a unique combination of textures and flavors.

The chefs at XLB Kitchen have mastered the art of Xiao Long Bao, ensuring that each dumpling is consistent in size, shape, and flavor. This dedication to quality is what sets XLB Kitchen apart from other Chinese restaurants in the area.
